There was my aunt who...
]]>There's beauty in my blood~! My family was filled with magical women. Throughout the history of women in my family tree, pursuit of beauty has been a tradition. In good times and in bad, women in my family have always worked to find the means to create beauty for themselves and others.
There was my aunt who was an Avon Representative and always brought over delightful lipstick samples. They were in these tiny tubes, some plain white plastic, others ornate as a full size, yet still petite wonders. She was always so dressed up, wearing that lipstick, her hair meticulous and smelling wonderful.
There was my big sister who concocted with me various types of "makeup" when I was little. She would add food coloring to corn starch and oil, somehow creating "eyeshadow" or "blush".
My mom from WWII era experimented with fruit acids, doing peels on her skin before it was something one could purchase. Her skin was phenomenal. She would endure literal peeling off of the top layer to get it that way! She mixed up a cucumber cream for afterward to expedite healing which took a couple of days.
My great aunt lived on a farm with bulls that chased me! Her advice was to stay healthy, pinch your cheeks at the very top gently for blush, and use a touch of vanilla extract for perfume. I think the bulls must have liked it!
And my great aunt who, during The Great Depression and Prohibition, became a hair stylist and beauty shop owner-operator out of her home, paying the bills when her husband became ill from heart problems. He was unable to work anymore, but he entertained the husbands in the basement with poker and moonshine while the wives had their hair and nails done, facials and anything else you could think of. Like my husband and me, they didn't have children. They traveled the world, bringing back fun mementos from distant lands like Europe, Australia and even Africa. I'll never forget the bull figurine and beautiful dancing lady statuettes she brought from Spain. There has been a lot of bull in my life lol
I learned from these women that beauty should be part of life, but that it doesn't always just happen on its own; it's something to be achieved. You have to make it happen. So I've made a pact with myself to bring beauty into my own life and share it with others every day. It's my life's mission. What will you do today to encourage beauty in your life?
On this Mother's Day, please reach out to the women in your life whether or not they are mothers. Just let them know you care. If you are lucky enough to still have your mother or aunts in your life, don't take them for granted. We appreciate you~!
Happy Mother's Day, Models~!

]]>Most people are familiar with Botox, the injectable form of the poison toxin, botulism, used to cause a paralyzing effect on the muscles in the face creating a smooth appearance of the face. I have never tried it and the reasons go beyond money and even toxins. My reasoning is more Perriconesque. Dr. Perricone teaches that toning the muscles of the face is a much better way to remain youthful. This is in direct contrast to Botox, but I agree. The biggest indicators of age that I see include jowls, sagging around the eye area, and sagging under the chin and on the neck. Botox can actually make these things worse because the muscles are not even doing the regular work of holding up the skin, let alone getting toned and holding it up better than usual. It's fine to use topical paralyzers to release the surface tension of the skin, smoothing fine lines, but if you really want to work on wrinkles, on looking younger, you must reverse the sagging.
The best way to do this according to Dr. Perricone's books (and me) is to use DMAE - even better if you pair DMAE with electrical stimulation and copper peptides. I have a fix for you, but only about 6 units, total. This will ship with a 2 oz bottle of Sero-Max - an HA and DMAE gel serum in an aloe base which makes a terrific conducting serum for use with this micro current machine:

I'm not sure whether the item will populate into our Shopify store, so I am placing a link to our eBay store here, tried and true. Any day I would choose toned muscles over an overly smooth surface. I can live with a fine line here and there as long as I don't have jowls or that dreaded break in the jawline. I'm not fond of sagging under the eyes, either, so this machine paired with Sero-Max has been fantastic for me. You wouldn't know I am 52 and that's the theme I have chosen for my life and for yours~! So now I am off to lose weight again - it's truly the only thing making me look older and it has to go (again)~!
]]>A couple of years ago, I sat across from one of my friends from Kindergarten at Panera Bread. Her skin was luminous and she was so humble about it. After we went through the "oh no, yours is!" exchange, I asked her what her secret was and she said she loves to exfoliate. I asked her favorite methods and they all were physical abrasive scrubbing methods. I literally cringed and she asked didn't I like to exfoliate? Yes, of course, I love to exfoliate! There is little to no benefit gained from applying serums containing peptides, DMAE and all sorts of goodies without first exfoliating, but I prefer chemical means. Then I told her my reasons.
Chemical exfoliants do not tear the surface of the skin and cause topical trauma the way physical abrasives do. That type of trauma is not very conducive to synthesizing collagen production compared to the "all over peel" effect from chemicals. When one does a chemical peel, a very large area has the same amount of skin removed at the same depth, then the skin goes about the business of rebuilding. Compare that to physical abrasive methods where one hand is stronger than the other. The uneven surface of the skin lends itself to digging deep into corners around the nose without even trying. Spots are easily missed while other areas receive more than their fair share of treatment. You wind up with spots that are sore, red and angry.
While a lot of people prefer this method like my friend, I would encourage everyone to try chemical "peels". They are not drastic like pictures found on Google! Well, at least they shouldn't be in a DIY setting! ModelSupplies has an easy AHA - Alphahydroxy acid - AHA Toner that is applied and left on at night which would be the lowest setting for a chemical peel and a great place to start. The next step up from that would probably be our 88% Lactic Acid which can be diluted and used as a peel of varying strengths using the included chart or even added to lotion to create an LA lotion. Some people can use our Lactic Acid at the full strength 88%, but that takes a long time to work up to that point - I'm not even at that point yet. We have a new product which is a Glycolic Acid gel in a Rose Hydrosol base. It smells wonderful and provides a professional strength peel experience without irritation - it is 10% Glycolic Acid which is derived from sugar cane. Glycolic Acid seems to be a bit stronger than Lactic Acid. The formula is a gel so it doesn't drip into your eyes or onto your clothes or anything.
Most people are likely to keep their preference regarding method of exfoliation - physical or chemical, but I would encourage everyone to try both and see for yourself—and try to prefer chemical peels to abrasive scrubs and gimmicky brushes – they are better for your skin~!
